Minister of Information: Houthis are using civilian properties as military bases and must be expelled immediately.

Yemeni Minister Condemns Houthi Militias for Weapon Storage in Public Facilities

Minister’s Strong Condemnation

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime, for using public facilities, industrial infrastructure, and private properties as storage for weapons and ammunition. This alarming practice poses a direct threat to the lives of innocent civilians and constitutes a complete war crime, violating all humanitarian and international laws, including international humanitarian law.

U.S. Military Action Targets Houthi Weapons Storage

In a recent press statement, Minister Al-Eryani highlighted a precise strike carried out by U.S. forces, which targeted a Houthi weapons storage facility in the Bani Matar district of Sana’a Governorate. He noted that the Houthi militia attempted to mislead both local and international public opinion by claiming that the targeted site was a “ceramics factory.” However, documented video footage revealed successive explosions, confirming the presence of large quantities of weapons and ammunition at the location.

Houthi Disregard for Civilian Safety

Al-Eryani emphasized that the Houthi militias have repeatedly demonstrated a blatant disregard for civilian lives. They use civilians as human shields, store weapons, and gather fighters in urban areas and residential neighborhoods, showing no concern for the potential humanitarian disasters and severe damage that could result. He asserted that these actions expose the criminal and aggressive nature of the militia, which views the Yemeni people merely as fuel for its senseless wars.

Call to Action for Local Citizens

The minister urged citizens in areas under Houthi control, particularly business owners and industrial and commercial property owners, to prevent the militia from using their properties as weapons storage or military outposts. He stressed the importance of expelling these criminal militias from private facilities to protect lives and property and to prevent them from becoming military targets.

Responsibility for Civilian Safety

Al-Eryani held the Houthi militias fully responsible for endangering civilian lives and properties due to their deliberate positioning within residential neighborhoods. He warned that their aggressive actions not only threaten Yemen but also have repercussions for the global economy and maritime security.

Denouncement of Human Shield Tactics

In conclusion, Minister Al-Eryani condemned the systematic use of civilians as human shields by the Houthi militias. He criticized their repeated attempts to exploit civilian suffering for political and media gains, calling for immediate action to protect innocent lives.
