Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Yemen and Egypt Discuss Cooperation and Training Programs

In a significant move toward bolstering bilateral relations, Yemen’s Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Dr. Mohammed Shabibah, engaged in pivotal discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, on the sidelines of the 35th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. The talks, aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two nations, focused on the training of preachers and orators, and the development of a moderate and balanced religious discourse.

Egypt’s Role in Yemen’s Development Highlighted

Minister Shabibah praised Egypt’s efforts and its leading role in laying the scientific foundations within the Yemeni society and the initial blocks for the Republic’s system. He pointed out that such bilateral meetings open broader prospects for joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries. The Egyptian Minister, in turn, lauded the depth of the bilateral relations that extend between the two nations and peoples, underscoring the shared history and mutual respect that characterizes the Yemeni-Egyptian relationship.

Fostering Academic and Scholarly Exchange

The dialogue further extended to an important meeting between Minister Shabibah and the President of Al-Azhar University, Professor Dr. Salama Jum’a. The focus of this discussion was on the conditions of Yemeni students studying at the university and enhancing cooperation between Al-Azhar University and the Yemeni Ministry of Endowments. This cooperation aims to achieve a synergy of roles and coordination of joint efforts, promising a brighter future for the students and the academic exchange between the two countries.

Minister Shabibah expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s unwavering support for Yemen since the Yemeni revolution, across various fields. This support, he affirmed, is something the Yemeni people will never forget. Dr. Jum’a welcomed Minister Shabibah and his accompanying delegation, showcasing the special care and outstanding academic opportunities provided to students at the university. He praised the exceptional academic level of Yemeni students, highlighting their contributions to the academic community.

This series of meetings between Yemeni and Egyptian officials underscores a mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing academic and religious education, and fostering a moderate and balanced religious narrative. The discussions pave the way for increased cooperation and coordination, promising a future of mutual benefits and shared development between Yemen and Egypt.
