Microsoft is currently testing a new feature that allows players to use smartphones as virtual controllers for Xbox games on supported smart TVs. This initiative aims to enhance access to cloud gaming services while reducing the need for additional accessories.
The Xbox Cloud Gaming service enables users to play Xbox games directly on compatible smart TVs without owning a gaming console. Previously, this service required a physical controller for operation.
With the new feature, users can play games on their TV screens and utilize Android and iPhone devices as virtual controllers through a web browser. This setup eliminates the need to download extra applications.
Microsoft has indicated that certain games will feature touch controls specifically designed to suit gameplay dynamics. Users can activate this feature through the settings in the Xbox app on supported smart TVs.
Additionally, the company is testing another technology called Cloud Connect in collaboration with the new Xbox Nano Controller. This technology allows direct connection to cloud gaming servers via Wi-Fi, aiming to reduce latency during gameplay.
Both features remain in the beta testing phase, and Microsoft has not announced a definitive release date for all users. The company continues to gradually expand support for compatible devices and games.
