Importance of Preserving Authenticity in Yemeni Products Discussed in Aden

In a significant meeting held today in Aden, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Salem Al-Wali, engaged with honey traders and the Geographic Indicators Committee for Yemeni products. The discussion focused on the vital need to maintain the authenticity and uniqueness of national products in both local and international markets.

Challenges Facing Yemeni Products

The meeting, attended by Rashid Hazeb, the ministry’s Undersecretary for Business Services, along with various directors and specialists from the ministry and relevant agencies, addressed several challenges confronting Yemeni products, particularly honey and coffee. Key issues included competition from counterfeit products, difficulties in marketing high-quality goods, and the necessity of establishing a trademark for honey and coffee producers.

Participants emphasized the importance of defining the geographical indicators for these products. They also highlighted the need for government support to enhance the supply chains for honey and coffee, improve production techniques, and develop a comprehensive strategy for implementing geographical indicators for Yemeni products, especially honey and coffee as primary commodities.

The Cultural and Economic Significance of Yemeni Honey and Coffee

During the meeting, Al-Wali underscored the significance of Yemeni honey and coffee, noting their exceptional quality and their role as integral elements of the country’s cultural and culinary heritage. He pointed out that geographical indicators serve as a means to protect Yemeni products from imitation and fraud. This protection not only builds consumer trust but also enhances export opportunities.

In conclusion, the discussions highlighted the critical need for a unified approach to safeguard and promote Yemeni products, ensuring their authenticity and competitiveness in the global market.
