On Tuesday, the Governor of Socotra, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, met with the Head of the Customs Authority, Abdul Hakim Al-Qabati, in the temporary capital of Aden. The discussion focused on enhancing customs operations within the province.
During the meeting, both officials emphasized the need to implement directives from the Prime Minister regarding the completion of the customs building in Socotra. They also highlighted the installation of an automated system. This initiative aims to improve customs performance across various entry points, thereby boosting sovereign resources and enhancing service quality.
Governor Al-Thaqali praised the Customs Authority’s leadership for their responsiveness to efforts aimed at improving customs operations in the Socotra Archipelago. He reaffirmed the local authority’s readiness to provide comprehensive support and collaboration to elevate the standards of the customs office in the province.
In response, Al-Qabati stressed the importance of coordination between the Customs Authority and local authorities to streamline procedures and effectively implement customs regulations. He acknowledged the discipline exhibited by Socotra’s customs staff and their commitment to executing laws and procedures with high efficiency.
