On Tuesday, a significant meeting took place in the temporary capital of Aden, led by Minister of Youth and Sports Nayef Al-Bakri. The gathering focused on various concerns affecting youth and athletes, as well as infrastructure projects, including the Al-Somoud Club stadium and the sports hall.
During the meeting, attendees included Sports Sector Undersecretary Khaled Mohsen Al-Khalifi and Technical Office Director Dr. Hassan Abdul-Rabuh. They listened to Ghassan Qaza, the Director General of the Ministry’s branch office in Al-Dhale’e, who highlighted numerous challenges facing sports in the governorate. The discussion particularly emphasized issues related to sports clubs and infrastructure projects, such as the need for turf installation at Al-Somoud Stadium and the renovation of the closed sports hall.
Minister Al-Bakri underscored the vital role that Al-Dhale’e and its youth play in the hearts of all Yemenis. He described the region as a “factory of champions and leaders” and a “land of martyrs.” He stressed that the youth deserve attention not only in sports and youth development but also in all service sectors and infrastructure projects.
Al-Bakri called for the completion of work at Al-Somoud Stadium and urged the establishment of a training and rehabilitation center. He also emphasized the importance of seeking funding sources to renovate the sports hall.
Additionally, Al-Bakri instructed the disbursement of outstanding dues to sports clubs, particularly for the last quarter of 2023 and the first two quarters of 2024. This support will follow the submission of their financial and administrative reports, ensuring that clubs can continue their activities effectively.
This meeting marks a crucial step in addressing the pressing needs of youth and sports in Al-Dhale’e, aiming to foster a supportive environment for future champions.
