The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s demining project, known as “Masam,” successfully removed 3,166 landmines across various regions in Yemen during the first week of February 2026. These mines, planted by Houthi militias, included five anti-personnel mines, 1,027 anti-tank mines, and 2,134 unexploded ordnance.
According to official statistics, the Masam team made significant progress in several provinces:
Since its inception, the Masam project has removed a staggering total of 540,671 landmines. These mines were indiscriminately planted across Yemen, posing a grave threat to innocent lives, particularly children, women, and the elderly. The ongoing efforts aim to restore safety and peace to the affected communities.
The Masam project continues to play a crucial role in humanitarian efforts, ensuring that the people of Yemen can live without the fear of landmines.
