“Masam” Project Removes 2,939 Landmines and Explosive Devices in August

The “Masam” project, part of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, announced the successful removal of 2,939 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during the first half of August. These hazardous materials were planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in various regions of Yemen.

Breakdown of Explosive Removals

According to the project’s operations room, the removal statistics include 2,824 unexploded munitions, 90 anti-tank mines, 14 explosive devices, and 11 anti-personnel mines. Field teams executed these operations, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring safety in affected areas.

Recent Achievements in Explosive Clearance

In just the past week, teams successfully removed 915 explosive items, clearing an area of 182,409 square meters. This effort contributes to a total of 580,746 square meters cleared since the beginning of the month. These ongoing efforts aim to protect civilians and eliminate the threat posed by landmines.

The Masam project continues to prioritize the safety of civilians in Yemen. By systematically removing explosive threats, the initiative plays a crucial role in restoring peace and security in the region.
