King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center's "Masam" Project Removes 732 Landmines in Yemen

In a significant achievement, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project successfully removed 732 landmines during the third week of January 2025. These mines were planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias across various provinces in Yemen.

Breakdown of Removed Explosives

The center reported that among the removed explosives were 51 anti-tank mines, 8 anti-personnel mines, 672 unexploded ordnance, and one improvised explosive device (IED). This brings the total number of landmines cleared in January 2025 to 2,522. Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of cleared landmines has reached an impressive 478,954.

The Ongoing Threat of Landmines

The indiscriminate placement of these landmines poses a severe threat to innocent civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly. The “Masam” project continues to play a crucial role in mitigating this danger by clearing affected areas and striving to ensure the safety of local communities.

The ongoing efforts of the “Masam” project highlight the importance of humanitarian initiatives in conflict zones. By removing landmines, the project not only saves lives but also paves the way for recovery and rebuilding in war-torn regions of Yemen.
