In the third week of May, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center’s "Masam" project successfully removed 1,095 landmines planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia across several Yemeni provinces.
According to a recent statement from the center, the operation included the removal of 32 anti-tank mines, 7 anti-personnel mines, and 1,056 unexploded ordnance. As of now, the total number of landmines cleared in May has reached 4,207.
Since the inception of the "Masam" project, the total number of landmines removed has soared to 494,351. These mines, indiscriminately planted by the Houthi militia, pose a significant threat to innocent lives, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly. The project aims to alleviate fear and restore safety in affected communities.
The ongoing efforts of the "Masam" project highlight the critical need for humanitarian initiatives in conflict zones. By removing landmines, the project not only saves lives but also helps to rebuild trust and security among the Yemeni population.
