In a significant move towards bolstering Yemen’s infrastructure and healthcare services, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, along with council members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Sheikh Osman Majali, laid the foundation stones for several development and service projects on Tuesday. These projects, funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, mark a pivotal moment in Yemen’s path towards recovery and progress.
A Warm Reception and Insightful Briefings
Upon their arrival, the delegation, led by President Al-Alimi, was warmly welcomed by Ahmed Madkhali, the director of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, alongside other program officials. The team provided comprehensive briefings on the new service projects, showcasing the depth of the collaborative efforts between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Diverse Projects to Transform Lives
The unveiled projects encompass a range of vital sectors. A specialized oncology center, a 30-megawatt Asifirah power station, a rural hospital in Al Mawasit district, and the rehabilitation and equipping of the Technical Industrial Institute in Taiz city are among the initiatives set to transform the local infrastructure and healthcare landscape. Additionally, the Unity Model School in Jabal Habashi district was inaugurated, further emphasizing the commitment to enhancing Yemen’s educational facilities.
During their visit, the delegation also reviewed the progress of the Medical City at Taiz University, a comprehensive complex comprising medical, nursing, pharmacy colleges, a university hospital, and administrative buildings. Once operational, this medical hub is expected to serve over 280,000 students, positioning it as the largest medical facility in the country.
Gratitude to Saudi Arabia
Expressing profound appreciation, President Al-Alimi, on behalf of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, extended heartfelt thanks to Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Their unwavering support through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has been instrumental in bringing these critical projects to fruition, under the vigilant supervision of Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.
A Testament to Development and Humanitarian Efforts
President Al-Alimi highlighted the significance of the Saudi developmental and humanitarian interventions in Yemen. From medical and educational cities across various provinces to promising projects in energy and water desalination, these initiatives, along with financial and oil grants, have become essential in sustaining millions of Yemeni lives.
Local Leadership’s Support
The foundation stone laying ceremony was also attended by the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, underscoring the local government’s support for these transformative projects.
This series of development projects not only signifies a leap towards improving the quality of life for Yemenis but also strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
