Launch of National Awareness Program to Combat Cervical Cancer in Aden

A Significant Step for Women’s Health

Today, Dr. Qassem Baheeb, the Minister of Public Health and Population, launched a national awareness program aimed at eliminating cervical cancer in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. This initiative, executed by the National Center for Health Education and Population Media, marks a pivotal moment in enhancing women’s health and addressing one of the most dangerous cancers affecting women.

Emphasizing Early Detection and Community Services

Minister Baheeb highlighted the importance of activating educational and awareness efforts regarding cervical cancer. He stressed the need to integrate early detection and treatment services into primary healthcare systems. Furthermore, he called for the enhancement of community services to ensure they are accessible to women across various provinces.

A Collaborative Approach to Cancer Elimination

The Minister pointed out that the fight against cervical cancer requires a sustained, collaborative effort among different health sectors. He urged stakeholders to transform the national strategy into practical, simplified action plans that extend beyond seasonal initiatives. This approach aims to achieve tangible results in combating cervical cancer.

Creating Women-Friendly Health Centers

Dr. Baheeb also directed health centers to become women-friendly environments. These centers should provide efficient and high-quality educational, diagnostic, and treatment services. By fostering a supportive atmosphere, the program aims to empower women and improve their health outcomes.
