King Salman Relief Center provides healthcare services to 2,961 individuals in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia's Humanitarian Efforts Transform Lives in Yemen

In a significant move to support those affected by the scourge of landmines and war remnants in Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has been at the forefront of implementing numerous humanitarian projects and programs aimed at aiding individuals with disabilities.

Reviving Hope Through Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Services

From September 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, KSrelief embarked on the sixth phase of its project to operate the Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation Center in Aden. This initiative seeks to restore hope to the injured by providing prosthetic limbs and physical rehabilitation services to patients with various types of mobility impairments. The center in Aden, during its sixth phase, welcomed 2,961 individuals, delivering 7,775 quality health services. These services included the fitting of 413 prosthetic and orthotic limbs, maintenance of 450 prosthetic limbs, and 6,912 physical therapy services, benefiting 2,098 individuals.

Enhancing Local Capabilities and Integration

The Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation Center in Aden is not only focused on providing immediate assistance but also on localizing and improving prosthetic and rehabilitation services. This approach aims to facilitate the reintegration of people with special needs into society, while also enhancing the skills of workers in prosthetic centers by equipping them with the latest medical and technical knowledge in the field.

Landmine Clearance Efforts

It’s important to note that, by the end of September 2024, the “Masam” project, another of KSrelief’s unique humanitarian programs, successfully cleared 458,477 landmines in Yemen. This effort aims to reduce the increasing number of Yemeni individuals suffering from various injuries due to indiscriminate landmine planting.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s commitment to providing health services to 2,961 individuals in Yemen is a testament to Saudi Arabia’s dedication to humanitarian aid and relief efforts. These initiatives not only offer immediate assistance but also strive to ensure long-term sustainability and improvement in the lives of those affected by conflict and its aftermath.
