Introduction to the Project
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has officially launched the project titled “Support for the Continuity of Educational Services and Recovery of the Educational Sector” in the governorates of Aden, Lahij, and Taiz. This initiative, executed in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration, reflects Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to improving education in Yemen.
Key Components of the Initiative
The project encompasses several vital components aimed at enhancing educational facilities and services:
- Rehabilitation and Expansion of Schools: The initiative will rehabilitate and expand 12 schools, including four in Aden, three in Lahij, and five in Taiz.
- Construction of Classrooms: The project will establish 44 new classrooms and two administrative offices.
- Renovation of Existing Facilities: It will upgrade 120 classrooms, ten laboratories, 13 administrative offices, and five book storage rooms.
- Toilet Rehabilitation: The project includes the construction of 10 new toilets and the rehabilitation of 124 existing toilets.
- Solar Energy Systems: Eight schools will receive solar energy systems to enhance sustainability and reduce operational costs.
- Provision of Educational Furniture: The initiative will furnish schools with 1,030 double desks, along with necessary administrative and technical equipment.
Official Statements on the Project
Dr. Omar Basaleem, head of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Education, emphasized that this project significantly contributes to the expansion and rehabilitation of public schools. He commended Saudi Arabia’s continuous support for the educational process in Yemen.
Salah Al-Dhibani, director of the King Salman Center branch in Aden, stated that the project aims to empower over 18,000 students to reclaim their right to a safe and stable education despite ongoing challenges.
In a related statement, Dr. Maysa Ashish, director of the Education Office in Aden, highlighted that the project will enhance the educational environment by constructing additional classrooms and rehabilitating existing schools. She expressed her gratitude for the King Salman Center’s efforts to support and stabilize education in the region.
