In a significant move towards addressing the pressing issue of child harassment and its societal impacts, the General Directorate for Women and Child Affairs and Minor’s Funds at the Ministry of Justice convened a comprehensive dialogue session today in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital.
The session aimed to forge effective strategies to counter this crime and shield children from its perils, marking a pivotal step in enhancing cooperation across various sectors. Participants included a select group from the Ministry of Justice, legal experts, academics, and representatives from civil society organizations, all pooling their expertise to tackle the menace.
Abdul Karim Baabad, the Deputy Minister of Justice for Documentation and Courts, underscored the critical role of community awareness in fighting this crime. He stressed the need for intensified media and educational efforts to enlighten children and parents about the looming dangers.
Dr. Salwa Bin Breik, the Director-General of Women and Child Affairs, echoed the urgency of collective action against this scourge threatening our future generations. She pointed out that child harassment is not merely an individual crime but reflects a broader societal dysfunction that demands comprehensive solutions.
The session concluded with several vital recommendations set to be forwarded to relevant authorities, marking a hopeful step towards eradicating child harassment.
