On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, administered the oath of office to several newly appointed judges of the Supreme Court. The ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Justice Mohsen Yahya Taleb.
According to Presidential Decision No. 327 of 2024, the following judges took their oaths:
Following the swearing-in ceremony, President Alimi met with the newly appointed judges. He congratulated them on earning their positions and expressed his wishes for their success in their upcoming responsibilities.
President Alimi emphasized the crucial role that judges play in serving justice, enforcing the rule of law, and protecting societal values amid the ongoing war instigated by Houthi militias with support from the Iranian regime. He reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary, ensuring that there will be no interference in judicial matters.
During the meeting, President Alimi outlined the current challenges facing the country, including the economic, service, and humanitarian repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes. He highlighted the increased responsibilities of judges in reinforcing state authority and safeguarding the interests of the Yemeni people. Judges are not only custodians of rights and duties but also guardians of the political system and the legal framework of the state.
President Alimi also recognized the commendable support from the Saudi-led coalition, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Their humanitarian and developmental interventions have helped the government fulfill its obligations and thwart the Houthi militias’ plans to plunge the country into chaos and a comprehensive humanitarian crisis.
This event marks a significant step in strengthening Yemen’s judicial system and restoring faith in the rule of law during challenging times.
