On Thursday, the Israeli military issued urgent evacuation warnings for eight towns and villages in the Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon. This announcement follows a recent escalation in violence, marked by 11 Israeli airstrikes that resulted in 22 fatalities, including five children, and left 27 others injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
New Round of Lebanese-Israeli Negotiations in Washington
In a political development, a new round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel commenced on Thursday in Washington. The talks began at 9 AM and will continue until 5:30 PM, with plans to resume on Friday.
According to a U.S. State Department official, the discussions will focus on both political and security issues. Delegations from both sides will participate, including:
- Lebanese Delegation: Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Maouad and former Ambassador Simon Karam.
- Israeli Delegation: Ambassador Yihyeh Leter and Deputy National Security Advisor Yossi Draznin.
- U.S. Representatives: Advisor Mark Nedim, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Aissa, and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.
