President Rashad Alimi Arrives in Cairo for Grand Egyptian Museum Opening
On Friday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Cairo, Egypt. His visit follows an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the largest cultural and civilizational landmarks in the world.
Warm Welcome at Cairo Airport
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, President Alimi received a warm welcome. Among those greeting him were Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi, Yemeni Ambassador to Egypt Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah, and Dr. Ali Mousa, Yemen’s acting representative to the Arab League, along with several embassy members.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), President Alimi expressed his deep appreciation for the kind Egyptian invitation to participate in this historic event. He emphasized Yemen’s pride in the strong ties between the two brotherly nations. Alimi acknowledged Egypt’s steadfast support for Yemen, particularly in its quest to restore state institutions, security, stability, and peace.

President Alimi highlighted Egypt’s generous care for Yemeni residents and expatriates seeking refuge from the violence of Houthi militias. He praised the facilities provided in education, healthcare, and residency, which reflect Egypt’s honorable stance throughout various phases of Yemen’s challenges.

The President commended the unprecedented urban and developmental renaissance occurring in Egypt under President El-Sisi’s leadership. He noted the significant infrastructure projects, new cities, and advancements in cultural and heritage sectors, particularly the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
