Inflation Rate Declines in France to 1.8% in June

In June, France experienced a notable decrease in its consumer price inflation rate, dropping to 1.8% year-on-year, down from 2.4% in May. This data comes from the final report released by the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). The decline reflects a stabilization in prices, aligning with economists’ forecasts.

Energy Prices Drive the Decrease

The INSEE highlighted that the slowdown in energy price increases played a crucial role in this decline. In June, energy prices rose by 11%, a significant drop from the 16.6% increase recorded in May. This reduction helped alleviate inflationary pressures. Additionally, service prices increased by 1.9%, compared to 2.1% in the previous month.

European Index Analysis

According to the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for the European Union, inflation in France fell to 2% in June, down from 2.8% in May. This decrease strengthens expectations for price stability in the Eurozone in the coming months, indicating an improvement in economic conditions.

Monthly Price Decline

On a monthly basis, consumer prices in France decreased by 0.3% in June, following a slight increase of 0.1% in May. This change signifies a clear slowdown in inflationary pressures within the French economy, contributing to enhanced economic stability.
