A woman sustained injuries from a sniper bullet fired by Houthi militia in eastern Taiz. This incident is part of a troubling pattern of sniper attacks targeting civilians in residential areas.
This latest shooting follows a series of similar incidents in the city. On January 29, 23-year-old Asmaa Ali Naji was injured while hanging laundry on her rooftop in the Al-Asifrah neighborhood of the Cairo district, located in northern Taiz.
Additionally, on February 5, 14-year-old Mu’tasim Jamil Abdullah Ahmad suffered a gunshot wound to the head from a sniper in the village of Al-Shaqab, situated in the Sabir Al-Mawadim district.
The Houthi militia has consistently targeted residential neighborhoods in Taiz, which has faced a blockade for several years. This escalation in violence coincides with increased military activity on the city’s front lines.
The ongoing violence in Taiz underscores the urgent need for international attention and intervention. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of this conflict, highlighting the dire humanitarian situation in the region.
