In Hajjah, Houthi militia abducts a family of five from Hajour before their journey to Marib.

Houthi Militias Kidnap Family of Five in Hajjah Governorate

In a troubling incident, Houthi militias kidnapped a family of five from the Hajour region in the Kusher district of Hajjah Governorate. The family was en route to attend a wedding in Marib when armed forces affiliated with the militia intercepted them.

Details of the Kidnapping

Eyewitness accounts reported by Eshraq Al-Maqtari, a member of the National Commission for Investigation, reveal that military vehicles surrounded the family, led by Yahya Ali Hussein Al-Saeedi. His family included his wife, daughter Jawhara, and two young daughters, Hanadi and Ahoud. The militia apprehended them on the road connecting Al-Absiya to Houth and Amran.

Al-Maqtari stated that the armed group detained the family at a security center in Al-Absiya. They subjected the family to interrogation and continue to hold them unlawfully, accusing them of supporting the legitimate government and the coalition forces.

Ongoing Oppression in Hajour

Local residents of Hajour reported to Al-Maqtari that the remaining population, particularly women, faces constant harassment from the Houthi militias. Since the militia took control of the area in early 2019, residents have endured severe oppression, including surveillance and pursuit. Additionally, many families have lost their homes due to destruction, and men in the community have faced displacement or arrest.

This incident highlights the ongoing human rights violations and the dire situation faced by families in Houthi-controlled regions of Yemen. As the conflict continues, the plight of ordinary citizens remains a pressing concern for humanitarian organizations and the international community.
