The Houthi militia continues its campaign of forced recruitment in schools and rural areas of Ibb Governorate. They specifically target high school students and residents of several districts. This escalation coincides with increased clashes with government forces in neighboring provinces, where the militia has suffered significant losses.

Recruitment of School Students and Weapons Training

According to local sources, Houthi leaders have begun field visits to public schools to recruit students. This follows their previous efforts over the past two years, where they sent university students to the front lines under a program known as “general mobilization.”

The militia has allocated specific classes for weapons training within schools in the districts of Al-Sabrah, Al-Makhadir, Ibb countryside, Al-Sayani, Dhay Al-Safal, Jibla, Al-Adain, Far’ Al-Adain, Hazm Al-Adain, and Al-Mudhakhira.

They present these training sessions as a “reserve force to secure locations.” However, sources indicate that the actual goal is to deploy students to combat fronts. Parents and parent councils have called for resistance against these practices.

Coerced Mobilization of Fighters Through Tribal Leaders

In a related development, the militia has dispatched leaders from outside the governorate to several districts. They have instructed loyal tribal leaders to gather fighters and send them to the fronts in Taiz, Al-Hudaydah, and Al-Dhale.

The militia has imposed specific quotas for the number of fighters and has informed tribal leaders to report the names of families that refuse recruitment. This strategy aims to facilitate the abduction of individuals from these families, amidst widespread community resistance.
