On Tuesday morning, Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime, directly targeted Al-Safwa Hospital in the center of Taiz. This attack resulted in injuries to a civilian and caused significant damage to various sections of the hospital, including the windows of patient rooms.
Local sources reported to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the shelling followed assaults on several residential neighborhoods, which resulted in civilian casualties. As first responders gathered to transport the injured, shells exploded near the hospital. This explosion shattered windows in patient rooms and created panic among patients and medical staff.
Sources confirmed that the attack on the hospital constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which protects medical facilities and their personnel during armed conflicts. Endangering these facilities threatens civilian lives, deprives them of essential health services, and exacerbates the suffering of the population.
