The Houthi militia continues to create crises and punish citizens in areas under its control, a systematic behavior since their coup in 2014. Recently, the humanitarian situation in Yarim, located in northeastern Ibb Governorate, has worsened due to a severe water crisis. The militia has cut off the water supply to the city for over two months, forcing residents to purchase water from the black market at exorbitant prices that do not align with their challenging living conditions.
Residents accuse the local water authority and the Houthis of being responsible for this crisis. They have repeatedly demanded the restoration of water services, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Consequently, frustration among the population grows as the militia neglects their basic needs.
In a related incident, Ibb Governorate witnessed a horrific crime involving the murder of an elderly woman named Salama Mohammed Hawis. Armed assailants shot her in the Jabbah area of the Far’a Al-Adin district after her sheep wandered into a field owned by Abdul Fattah Naji Mas’ad. This tragic event resulted in her immediate death.
The crime has sparked widespread outrage among local residents, who demand swift action to apprehend the perpetrator and impose the harshest penalties. This outcry reflects the ongoing security breakdown in the governorate, where incidents of murder, theft, and assaults on citizens’ property have become increasingly common.
These events highlight the continuous decline in living and security conditions in areas controlled by the Houthi militia. Citizens endure severe hardships due to repeated violations of their rights. Urgent action is necessary from relevant authorities to protect their rights and improve their living conditions.
