Houthi militants assault medical students at Revolution Hospital’s faculty in Ibb.

Houthi Militants Brutally Assault Medical Students in Yemen

Unprovoked Attack at University Hospital

In a shocking incident, Houthi militants brutally attacked several medical students from Ibb University within the premises of Al-Thawra General Hospital in the governorate. Local sources reported that a group of Houthi militants, present at Al-Thawra General Hospital, launched a savage assault on fifth-level medical students from Ibb University on Saturday. The students were at the hospital for their practical training when the violence erupted.

Incident Escalates from Verbal to Physical Assault

The situation escalated when one of the students advised a Houthi member, part of the hospital’s security, to lower the volume of the music he was playing, which was disturbing patients and visitors. This advice led to a verbal altercation that quickly turned physical. The Houthi guard called in five additional militants who stormed the hospital and began beating the student and his peers with sticks and rifle butts, resulting in severe injuries including a broken arm for one of the students, all in full view of patients and hospital staff.

Lack of Intervention by Hospital Management

Sources highlighted that the hospital’s management and security did not take any action against the Houthi elements, despite their history of assaulting employees and patients in similar incidents. This negligence raises serious concerns about the safety and security of both patients and medical practitioners within the healthcare facility.

The brutal attack on medical students practicing at Al-Thawra General Hospital underscores the volatile situation in Yemen, where Houthi militants continue to pose a significant threat to civilians and professionals alike. The lack of accountability for such actions further exacerbates the climate of fear and insecurity among the population.

This incident has sparked outrage and calls for immediate intervention to protect students, healthcare workers, and patients from further violence. The international community and local authorities are urged to take decisive steps to address the ongoing aggression by Houthi militants and ensure the safety of all individuals within educational and medical institutions in Yemen.
