Hostages in Houthi prisons face severe health issues from torture and deprivation, raising urgent humanitarian concerns.

Deteriorating Health Conditions of Detainees in Houthi Prisons

Humanitarian sources report alarming health and psychological declines among detainees held by the Houthi militia. Journalist Fares Al-Humairi highlights systematic torture and a lack of medical care as primary factors contributing to this crisis.

Psychological and Physical Health Concerns

One detainee has developed severe psychological disorders due to ongoing psychological torture and isolation. Another individual suffers from kidney failure, requiring urgent medical attention and continuous dialysis. Unfortunately, the militia has completely neglected his medical needs.

Moreover, one detainee has lost the ability to walk and now relies on a cane for mobility. Another has experienced three strokes, the latest being a pulmonary embolism, leaving him in critical condition.

Severe Weight Loss and Vision Impairment

Reports indicate that one detainee has lost more than half of his normal body weight, leading to severe emaciation. Additionally, another individual has lost sight in one eye and faces serious complications that could result in complete blindness.

Advanced Health Issues

Tragically, one detainee has received a diagnosis of liver cancer, with the disease now in an advanced stage and spreading to other parts of his body. These cases underscore the extreme suffering and human rights violations occurring within Houthi militia prisons.

Ongoing Complaints and Human Rights Violations

Families of the detainees continue to voice concerns about medical neglect and torture. Many detainees remain on lists of forcibly disappeared individuals, highlighting the urgent need for intervention and accountability.

The situation in Houthi prisons demands immediate attention to address the severe health conditions faced by detainees and to uphold their basic human rights.
