On Tuesday, the Houthi militia inaugurated a controversial sectarian exhibition at Al Shaab Park in Al Hudaydah. The event features over three thousand images and models of militia casualties, coinciding with what the group calls the “Martyr’s Annual Commemoration.” This initiative has sparked widespread discontent among local residents.
Sources informed “Al-Sahwa Net” that the exhibition includes combat models, military vehicles, and portraits of militia leaders. The primary goal appears to be promoting the militia’s sectarian military agenda. By transforming public recreational spaces into platforms for mobilization and incitement to violence, the militia aims to further its cause.
Reports indicate that the militia compelled employees, students, and women to visit the exhibition. Organizers provided mandatory attendance lists to record visitor information. This strategy seeks to attract youth and teenagers to sectarian courses and military training camps.
The militia reportedly spent hundreds of millions of riyals to prepare the exhibition and related events for “Martyr’s Day” this month. This expenditure comes despite the severe economic collapse affecting local residents and the ongoing deprivation of salaries for public employees over the past several years.
These events occur while the militia continues to impose policies of repression and impoverishment on the people of Al Hudaydah. Resources that could address basic citizen needs are redirected to serve the militia’s sectarian agenda. Currently, there are no signs of improvement in living conditions or public services.
This exhibition not only highlights the militia’s priorities but also raises questions about the well-being of the local population, who continue to suffer under these oppressive conditions.
