Today, Dr. Qassem Baheeb, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, engaged in discussions with Dr. Saleh Al-Haisnawi, Iraq’s Minister of Health. The meeting focused on enhancing mutual cooperation, particularly in the health sector. This dialogue occurred during the Arab Health Ministers Conference held in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Minister Baheeb outlined the current health situation in Yemen, highlighting significant challenges. He emphasized the urgent need to resume bilateral relations and foster joint cooperation with Iraq. He noted Iraq’s historical role in training Yemeni professionals across various specialties, especially in healthcare.
In response, Minister Al-Haisnawi expressed Iraq’s readiness to support Yemen in various health and humanitarian areas. This commitment reflects a strong desire to strengthen ties between the two nations.
The ministers agreed to arrange a high-level delegation from Yemen to visit Iraq. This visit aims to explore potential avenues for collaboration and to develop a bilateral cooperation protocol between the two countries.
The meeting included key figures such as Yemen’s Ambassador to Iraq, Khadr Marmash, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Medical Council, Dr. Amer Balafair, and Dr. Musleh Al-Tawali, Head of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Health.
This dialogue marks a significant step towards enhancing health collaboration between Yemen and Iraq, aiming to address pressing health issues and improve medical training and resources in Yemen.
