Alphabet’s Google launched its leading artificial intelligence model, “Gemini 4 Argon,” for developers and businesses worldwide on Wednesday. This move aims to regain its position in the AI race against competitors OpenAI and Anthropic, following months of delays and leadership changes within DeepMind.
Google stated that the new model excels in deep work on multi-step tasks across various fields, including:
Additionally, development teams using “Argon” through the Antigravity platform increased AI agent code submissions by over 35%, while reducing reversion rates by approximately one-third.
The API pricing starts at:
This launch follows a challenging period for Google. In September, the company announced it would not release the “Gemini 3.5 Pro” model, despite previous statements from CEO Sundar Pichai indicating a June release. The company also underwent a comprehensive overhaul at DeepMind after co-founder Demis Hassabis stepped down, along with several leaders from the Gemini project.
“Argon” is available to subscription customers through Google tools for building AI applications. Subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra can access it via the Gemini app and the AI Mode in Search feature, while the Antigravity programming tool remains exclusive to Ultra subscribers.
Google also announced the expansion of the Fairwind program to include hundreds of additional partners, providing cybersecurity specialists with access to “Argon” without cybersecurity restrictions after passing a special audit.
Google will offer free access for 10,000 scientists for six months to the highest usage tier on the Antigravity platform, supporting scientific research and development.
