Leadership Oversight on Educational Development in Socotra

On Tuesday, Major General Aidarus Qasim Al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, inspected the progress of the project to establish the College of Education, Humanities, and Applied Sciences in Socotra Archipelago. This initiative receives funding from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Fund.

Sharif outlined the various phases of implementation and the essential components of the college, which will cover a total area of 19,000 square meters. He also discussed the timeline set for project completion.

Broader Development Initiatives

In addition to the college project, Al-Zubaidi learned about the range of developmental projects the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program is executing across the archipelago. These initiatives span multiple sectors, showcasing a commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and services.

Strengthening Historical Ties

He emphasized that these efforts reflect the strong historical ties between Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, he noted the significant role these projects play in promoting sustainable development in the archipelago.

In a related effort, Al-Zubaidi also visited the Noor Zayed 1 solar power station in Socotra. During this visit, he, along with Governor Al-Thaqali and several ministers, received a detailed explanation from Engineer Yasser Al-Ani, who oversees the electricity stations in the archipelago. Al-Ani highlighted the performance of six electricity stations provided by the United Arab Emirates, which meet the energy needs of all areas in the capital, Hadibo, through a modern ground distribution network that operates 24 hours a day.

Future Development Plans

Engineer Al-Ani also presented a brief overview of future development plans, which include expanding the capacity of the stations to cover all areas of the archipelago. Additionally, the plans involve training and qualifying local personnel from Socotra to ensure the sustainable and efficient operation of the power stations.

Acknowledgment of UAE Support

Al-Zubaidi commended the generous support provided by the United Arab Emirates to the electricity sector in Socotra. He asserted that this assistance has positioned the archipelago as a model for stable electricity service across the nation.
