Yemen's Finance Ministry Initiates Payment of Over 9 Billion Riyals to Displaced Military and Security Personnel

In a significant move to address the grievances of displaced military and security personnel, the Yemeni Finance Ministry announced today the commencement of disbursing financial dues to over 34,000 beneficiaries. This substantial financial operation, exceeding 9 billion Riyals, is being facilitated through the Islamic Bank of Al-Qutaibi for Microfinance.

Efforts to Resolve Displacement Issues

This initiative is part of a broader effort to tackle the challenges faced by employees removed from their positions in the southern provinces. Following presidential decrees issued in mid-May 2023, ranging from Decision No. 42 to Decision No. 62, the government successfully addressed over 62,000 complaints from displaced employees. Additionally, the Cabinet’s Decision No. 28 of 2023 endorsed financial support for these individuals, marking a critical step towards alleviating their hardships.

Technical Committee’s Role in Ensuring Fair Disbursement

A responsible source from the Finance Ministry, in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), highlighted the completion of a meticulous review process by a technical committee. This committee, comprising representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Civil Service, Insurance, Defense, Interior, and the Central Organization for Control and Accounting, was tasked with examining the beneficiary lists and ensuring compliance with the disbursement criteria. This process underscores the government’s commitment to alleviating the living difficulties of displaced personnel amidst the country’s challenging circumstances.

This financial disbursement initiative not only aims to provide immediate relief to the affected military and security personnel but also reflects the government’s dedication to resolving long-standing employment and displacement issues in the country.
