Destruction of Expired Products in Aden and Lahij to Protect Consumers

The Public Prosecution Office for Industry and Trade in Aden has conducted a legal destruction of approximately two tons of expired cleaning supplies and cosmetics. This operation took place at the Bir Al-Naimah landfill in the Brega district, with the presence of Judge Jamila Abdulaziz and the supervision of Deputy Prosecutor Dr. Sumaya Al-Qabati.

Details of the Destruction Operation in Aden

The prosecution revealed that the seized shipment was en route to the markets of Aden when it was intercepted by Aden’s security forces in June 2026. Inspection results indicated that most of the contents did not meet standard specifications, posing a direct threat to public health. Judge Jamila Abdulaziz emphasized that the Public Prosecution will not tolerate any practices that jeopardize citizens’ health.

She stressed the importance of implementing strict legal measures against violators and enhancing market surveillance to ensure consumer protection. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and providing a safe shopping environment.

Destruction Campaign for Expired Food Products in Lahij

In a related effort, the Industry and Trade Office in the Al-Turba district of Lahij conducted a destruction of expired food products on Sunday. This included corn grits and children’s snacks branded “Tarzan Bafk.” The operation coordinated with security agencies and the Public Prosecution as part of a regulatory campaign aimed at controlling the markets and preventing the circulation of non-compliant goods.

Director of the office, Iyad Al-Hajri, confirmed that the destruction followed the completion of legal procedures and the issuance of seizure reports. He added that the office will not hesitate to take strict measures, emphasizing that consumer safety remains a top priority. These efforts align with the government’s commitment to protecting public health and ensuring the quality of available products in the markets.

Importance of Regulatory Campaigns

These regulatory campaigns enhance trust between consumers and government entities by providing a safe shopping environment and safeguarding public health. By destroying expired products, the Yemeni government reaffirms its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring their safety. Furthermore, these efforts represent a significant step toward strengthening the legal and regulatory framework in the country.

Such activities form part of the ongoing efforts by the government and state institutions to ensure citizen safety and improve the quality of life in Yemen.
