Egypt denies allegations from “Hemedti” regarding its involvement in the ongoing battles in Sudan.

Egypt Denies Allegations of Military Involvement in Sudan Conflict

Egypt has firmly rejected allegations made by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” the leader of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Hemedti accused the Egyptian military of participating in ongoing battles in Sudan, a claim that Egypt categorically denies.

Egypt’s Commitment to Peace in Sudan

In an official statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized that these accusations arise at a time when Egypt is making significant efforts to halt the conflict in Sudan. The ministry highlighted its commitment to protecting civilians and enhancing international responses to humanitarian relief plans aimed at supporting those affected by the ongoing violence.

The statement further asserted, “The Arab Republic of Egypt denies these allegations and calls on the international community to examine the evidence that supports the claims made by the RSF leader.”

Support for Sudan Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Egyptian government reiterated its dedication to the security, stability, and unity of Sudan, both for its government and its people. It underscored, “Egypt will continue to provide all possible support to our brothers in Sudan as they confront the challenges arising from this brutal war.”

Hemedti’s accusations included claims that Egypt has conducted airstrikes against RSF forces. In a video released on Wednesday, he alleged that Cairo also trains the Sudanese army and supplies it with drones amid the ongoing conflict, which has persisted for approximately a year and a half. This conflict has seen the RSF and the Sudanese army engaged in intense battles, with the latter recently gaining ground.

As tensions escalate in Sudan, Egypt’s response highlights its role as a mediator and supporter of peace efforts in the region. The situation remains fluid, and the international community continues to monitor developments closely.
