Yemen's Higher Education Minister Launches Legal Symposium in Aden

In a significant move to bolster the legal framework surrounding higher education and scientific research, Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, Yemen’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Vocational Education, and Training, inaugurated a legal symposium today in the temporary capital, Aden.

Emphasizing the Importance of Legal Knowledge

During the event, Minister Al-Wasabi urged participants from the ministry’s leadership to fully leverage the symposium for optimal benefit. He highlighted the importance of consistently staying informed about the laws, regulations, and rules governing the ministry’s operations. Al-Wasabi stressed that understanding these regulations is fundamental to any administrative work, underlining the cornerstone role of legal knowledge in effective governance.

A Call for Comprehensive Understanding

Echoing Al-Wasabi’s sentiments, the Ministry’s Deputy for the Supervision and Inspection Sector, Fadl Al-Hariri, pointed out the interconnected nature of laws across all institutions. Al-Hariri encouraged participants to familiarize themselves with these laws to foster a more cohesive and informed administrative environment.

Objectives of the Symposium

Mustafa Al-Shaibi, the General Director of Legal Affairs, clarified the symposium’s goals over its two-day duration. The event aims to raise awareness about the specific laws and regulations relevant to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Additionally, it seeks to elucidate the administrative hierarchy and the process of correspondence exchange among the various departments and sectors within the ministry. This initiative aligns with the general structure and tasks outlined in the Republican Decree No. 193 of 2010.

The symposium represents a pivotal step towards enhancing the legal and administrative capabilities of Yemen’s higher education sector. By fostering a deeper understanding of the legal framework, the ministry aims to improve its operational efficiency and governance standards, ensuring a robust foundation for the country’s academic and scientific advancement.
