Today, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Patrick Simonnet, the European Union Ambassador to Yemen. The two discussed the ongoing cooperation and partnership between Yemen and the EU, focusing on recent developments in the country.

During their meeting, they addressed the urgent need for European support to assist the Yemeni government in building capacity, improving essential services, and restoring trust in international financial institutions. This support aims to bolster economic recovery and alleviate the living burdens faced by citizens.

Dr. Al-Alimi praised the political, humanitarian, and developmental assistance provided by the EU to Yemen. He highlighted the EU’s support for the humanitarian response plan, which has become a vital lifeline for millions of Yemenis amid one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises.

Dr. Al-Alimi also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in supporting Yemen. Promoting National Consensus

He expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in fostering national consensus and facilitating the Southern Dialogue. This initiative aims to address the Southern issue within a comprehensive political framework, thereby enhancing stability prospects.

In response, Ambassador Simonnet reaffirmed the EU’s ongoing support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. He committed to collaborating with regional and international partners to enhance stability and improve humanitarian and service conditions in Yemen.
