Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Tarik Saleh, stated that restoring stability in Yemen hinges on international efforts to support the legitimate government. He highlighted the need for the government to establish control over the entire national territory and prevent Yemen from becoming a platform for threats to regional and global security.
During a meeting today with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, Saleh discussed the current situation in Yemen and the challenges facing peace efforts. He expressed concern over the Houthi militias’ failure to meet their commitments, which has hindered various regional and international initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis.
Saleh underscored the government’s commitment to supporting peace initiatives. He stressed the importance of a unified international approach to the Yemeni crisis, one that acknowledges the threats posed by the Houthi militia. He described the group as an Iranian tool designed to destabilize the region and threaten navigation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
In response, Ambassador Sharif affirmed London’s understanding of these risks and its rejection of activities that undermine global maritime security. She reiterated the United Kingdom’s support for the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council, as well as for United Nations-led peace efforts.
This dialogue underscores the critical role of international collaboration in addressing the ongoing crisis in Yemen and ensuring regional stability.
