Council member Tariq Saleh discusses strategies to counter Iran’s threats in Yemen with the U.S. ambassador.

Unified International Response Needed Against Houthi Threats

Call for Support for Yemen’s Legitimate Government

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Tariq Saleh, emphasized the necessity of a unified international stance to address the threats posed by the Houthi militia. He stated that these threats endanger national, regional, and international security. Saleh called for comprehensive support for the legitimate Yemeni government to regain control of the country, end the ongoing coup, and assist Yemenis in building a state based on good neighborliness and strong partnerships with the international community.

Discussion with U.S. Ambassador

Saleh made these remarks during a phone call with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin. The two discussed recent developments in Yemen amid the ongoing U.S. military campaign against Iranian proxies. This campaign responds to threats against international shipping in the Red Sea, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Yemen’s Resilience Against Destructive Forces

During the conversation, Saleh expressed confidence in the Yemeni people’s ability to counter the destructive agenda of the Houthis. He asserted that the most effective way to undermine Iranian threats in Yemen lies in establishing a robust partnership strategy with the legitimate government. This approach aims to foster stability and security in the region.

Focus on Civilian Safety and Targeting Militia Leaders

Both Saleh and Ambassador Fagin agreed on the importance of implementing strict measures to prevent civilian casualties. They stressed the need to concentrate military operations on Iranian militia leaders, who have plunged Yemen into ongoing conflicts since their rebellion against the state began. This focus aims to restore peace and security for the Yemeni people.

In conclusion, a coordinated international effort remains crucial to support Yemen in overcoming the challenges posed by the Houthi militia and to pave the way for a stable and prosperous future.
