On Sunday, Sheikh Othman Majali, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Catherine Gramegon, the French Ambassador to Yemen, to mark the conclusion of her tenure.

Acknowledging Diplomatic Contributions

During the meeting, Majali praised Ambassador Gramegon for her significant and constructive role in Yemen. He highlighted her engagement with various developments, both personally and professionally. He noted her diplomatic and political support for the Presidential Leadership Council and emphasized France’s contributions to humanitarian and service projects in liberated provinces.

France’s Stance Against Houthi Terrorism

Majali pointed out the global recognition of France’s crucial role and its early stance against Houthi terrorism. He described the Houthis as an extremist group that threatens the interests of the Yemeni people and poses risks to regional and global stability. He criticized their disregard for international laws and the safety of communities.

Iran’s Support for Houthi Militias

Majali also addressed the connection between Iran and the Houthi militia, which Tehran has attempted to conceal for decades. He stated that the presence of Iranian weapons, drugs, and experts alongside the Houthis serves as concrete evidence of Iran’s role in supporting terrorism and fostering instability.

Saudi Arabia’s Support for Yemen

Majali commended the significant efforts of Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in supporting the Yemeni people and their government. He acknowledged the leadership of Dr. Sha’if Al-Zandani, who has demonstrated administrative and organizational competence in overcoming challenges, combating Houthi terrorism, and improving services and the economy.

Regional Security Concerns

Majali emphasized Iran’s aggressive actions against Yemen and neighboring countries, including its attempts to acquire weapons that threaten the security of the Arab region, the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz. He called for decisive action against Houthi terrorism to restore peace and ensure maritime navigation in affected areas, which has negatively impacted international trade.

Military Achievements Against Houthi Forces

Majali praised the efforts of the armed forces and drone units on various fronts. He noted their ability to deliver significant blows to the Iranian-backed Houthi militia in liberated areas, including Al-Dhale, Saada, Marib, the western coast, and Taiz.

The Plight of Citizens Under Houthi Control

He expressed concern for citizens living under Houthi control, stating that they yearn for freedom. He described their dire security and economic situation, likening their existence to a “great prison of starvation.” He lamented that even expressing hunger has become a challenge for the people, who suffer from the militia’s oppressive actions.

Rejection of Houthi Ideology

Majali asserted that the Houthi militia has failed to manipulate public awareness, as evidenced by the tribes’ rejection of their presence and attempts to recruit misguided individuals.

French Ambassador’s Appreciation

In response, Ambassador Gramegon expressed her gratitude for the cooperation she received from the Presidential Leadership Council during her time in Yemen. She reaffirmed that the French government’s diplomatic and political support for Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy stems from its commitment to addressing the concerns of the Yemeni people and its role as a genuine partner in development and reconstruction.
