Council member Othman Majli: Houthis have smuggled destructive tools into Yemen with the help of their Iranian partners.

Meeting Between Yemeni Leadership and French Ambassador

On Thursday, Sheikh Othman Majali, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Catherine Grameau, the French Ambassador to Yemen. This meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted France’s active role in Yemen’s political, economic, and developmental landscape.

Discussing Houthi Threats and Regional Stability

During the discussion, Majali addressed the ongoing threats posed by the Houthi militia. He stated that over recent years, these militants have smuggled destructive tools into Yemen, facilitated by their Iranian partners. He emphasized that the Houthi group jeopardizes Yemen’s security and the interests of the region in the Red Sea. Furthermore, their actions have negatively impacted the local economy, disrupted the flow of goods, and threatened the safety of international navigation, all while advancing Iran’s destabilizing agenda in the area.

Efforts for Peace and Stability

Majali noted that the Presidential Leadership Council has consistently sought peace and has made numerous attempts to foster dialogue. He mentioned significant steps taken toward reconciliation, including the approval of passports, the reopening of Sanaa Airport, and the operation of the Hodeidah port. These actions, along with the reversal of certain Central Bank decisions, aimed to promote peace for the Yemeni people. He clarified that these measures were not signs of weakness but rather strategic moves in the face of ongoing aggression from adversaries.

Call for International Support

In conclusion, Majali asserted, “We face a terrorist enemy, and the international community bears the responsibility to assist us in achieving service, economic, and security stability.” His remarks underscored the urgent need for global support to help the Yemeni government stabilize the nation.

France’s Commitment to Yemen

In response, Ambassador Grameau reaffirmed France’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni people across political, diplomatic, economic, and developmental fronts. Her statement highlighted France’s ongoing dedication to fostering stability and peace in Yemen.
