Council member Mahmoud Al-Sabihi: The targeting of Al-Maashiq Palace is a serious escalation that will not deter Yemenis from restoring state institutions and ending the coup.

Houthi Attack on Maashiq Palace Represents Serious Escalation, Says Yemeni Official

A member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Al-Sabihi, stated that the Houthi militia’s attack on Maashiq Palace in the temporary capital of Aden poses a significant threat to citizen security and instills fear among residents. He described this escalation as a dangerous attempt to undermine the security of Aden and state institutions, reflecting the militia’s insistence on resorting to violence instead of respecting the will of the Yemeni people and their right to restore their state and sovereignty over the entire national territory.

Context of the Escalation

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Sabihi explained that this escalation follows the losses the Houthi militia has suffered on the western coast and in Taiz. He noted that the attack aims to confuse the situation and shift confrontations to secure cities. He emphasized that these assaults will not achieve the militia’s objectives and will not deter Yemenis from continuing their struggle to restore state institutions and end the coup.

Responsibility for Security in Aden

Al-Sabihi affirmed that the security of Aden and the safety of its citizens represent a national responsibility that cannot be neglected. He condemned the targeting of civilian sites and the endangerment of citizens’ lives, asserting that necessary measures must be taken to protect the population and hold those responsible for these attacks accountable under the law.

Solidarity with Taiz

Lieutenant General Al-Sabihi stated, “Taiz will not stand alone; it will remain in the hearts of all Yemenis, and we will stand by its people with all we have.” He praised the resilience of Taiz and the heroism of its citizens in facing the Houthi siege and aggression.

Recognition of Armed Forces’ Sacrifices

The member of the Presidential Leadership Council commended the bravery of the armed forces across various fronts, from the western coast to Taiz, highlighting their sacrifices in defense of the nation and the dignity of its people. He appreciated the national stances of the people of Al-Sabihah, including both elders and youth, in supporting the armed forces and confronting the Houthi terrorist militia.

Commitment to National Goals

Al-Sabihi reiterated that the sacrifices of the Yemeni people will remain a source of strength and steadfastness in the face of the Houthi project. He affirmed that the determination of Yemenis will continue toward restoring state institutions, asserting sovereignty over the entire national territory, and ensuring security and stability while safeguarding citizens’ dignity. He concluded that these attacks will not diminish the resolve to achieve national objectives.
