Dr. Abdullah Al-Aleemi Explores Global Climate Initiatives at COP29

Dr. Abdullah Al-Aleemi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, attended the COP29 climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. During his visit, he examined various international and regional strategies to address environmental challenges.

Saudi Arabia’s Green Initiatives

At the Saudi Arabia pavilion, Dr. Al-Aleemi learned about the “Green Saudi Arabia” and “Green Middle East” initiatives. These programs aim to reduce emissions, manage renewable energy use, and enhance vegetation cover, all supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

UAE’s Commitment to Climate Action

While visiting the United Arab Emirates pavilion, Dr. Al-Aleemi received insights into the UAE’s efforts under COP28. He noted the country’s achievements in biodiversity, climate financing, and its commitment to carbon neutrality. Additionally, he learned about the UAE’s initiatives to bolster food and water security.

Qatar’s Natural Solutions for Climate Adaptation

Dr. Al-Aleemi explored Qatar’s pavilion, where he discovered the nation’s focus on natural solutions for climate adaptation. Qatar aims to support sustainable development and strengthen ecosystem resilience to protect its economy from climate challenges.

Oman’s Green Hydrogen Project

In the Oman pavilion, Dr. Al-Aleemi was introduced to the “Green Hydrogen” project. This initiative aligns with Oman’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The country plans to launch the Oman Sustainability Center and implement a renewable energy transition strategy.

Morocco’s Sustainable Mobility Policies

At the Morocco pavilion, Dr. Al-Aleemi learned about the country’s efforts to combat climate change and protect natural resources. He also explored the policies in place in Rabat to promote sustainable mobility, aimed at improving urban health and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

Arab League’s Advocacy for Climate Awareness

Dr. Al-Aleemi also engaged with organizers at the Arab League pavilion, where he was briefed on their efforts to promote Arab positions and raise awareness about climate and environmental challenges.

Azerbaijan’s Cultural and Environmental Symbolism

During his visit to the Azerbaijan pavilion, Dr. Al-Aleemi viewed the summit’s logo, which features symbols of the “Buta,” leaves, and water droplets. This design reflects Azerbaijan’s environmental sensitivity and rich cultural heritage. The pavilion also showcased the five elements of energy, including plants, animals, air, wind, and water.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Aleemi expressed his appreciation for the diverse experiences he encountered at COP29. He commended the participating nations for their efforts to enhance climate action and achieve sustainable development.
