Governor of Hadhramaut, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, commended the projects and interventions of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the governorate. He acknowledged the program’s efforts in implementing developmental and service projects, supporting vital sectors, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
This praise came during a meeting with Nadia Al-Awlaimeh, the Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP, and her team. They reviewed the projects executed across various sectors and discussed developmental needs and future intervention priorities in Hadhramaut.
Al-Khanbashi emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and collaboration between the local authority and the UNDP. He highlighted the need to focus on vital sectors to enhance project effectiveness, ensure sustainable results, and support pathways for development and stability.
Local authority officials presented key developmental and service needs, prioritizing projects related to water, dams, and water barriers, as well as improving basic services. They noted the increasing pressure on infrastructure and services due to urban expansion and the influx of displaced persons.
In response, Al-Awlaimeh praised the UNDP’s operational experience in Hadhramaut. She pointed out the successful implementation of projects, attributing this success to the security stability and cooperation of the local authority. She explained that the program’s interventions cover sectors such as agriculture, water, fisheries, protection, governance, livelihood support, and strengthening local institutions.
