Strengthening Yemen-Korea Relations: A Commitment to Humanitarian Support

Yemeni Leadership Acknowledges Korean Contributions

Lieutenant General Aidarus al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, praised the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and the Republic of Korea. During a meeting with the Korean Ambassador to Yemen, Bong Kai-do, al-Zubaidi emphasized the council’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Seoul across various sectors.

Humanitarian Aid Amidst Economic Challenges

In their discussion, al-Zubaidi expressed gratitude for the humanitarian support provided by Korea. This assistance plays a crucial role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, who face severe economic hardships due to the ongoing conflict instigated by Houthi militias. He highlighted the significance of Korean initiatives, particularly those aimed at empowering women and improving livelihoods.

Korean International Cooperation Agency’s Impact

Al-Zubaidi specifically commended the leading humanitarian role of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The agency supports emergency humanitarian response projects and sustainable initiatives in vital sectors such as water, health, and education. He noted that these efforts exemplify constructive humanitarian cooperation that fosters stability in Yemen.

Future Collaboration in Capacity Building

Looking ahead, al-Zubaidi expressed hope for increased Korean support in Yemen, particularly in capacity building, training personnel, and preparing youth for roles in government service. He believes these initiatives will enhance institutional performance and better serve the Yemeni population.

Korean Ambassador Reaffirms Support

In response, Ambassador Bong Kai-do reiterated the South Korean government’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in Yemen. He assured that Korea remains dedicated to enhancing humanitarian and developmental assistance for the Yemeni people.
