Bahrain Welcomes UN Security Council Statement Condemning Houthi Attacks

The Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed its support for the recent statement issued by the United Nations Security Council. This statement condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and highlighted the threat to commercial shipping safety. The Council emphasized the importance of adhering to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, while also respecting Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and freedom of maritime navigation.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia. The ministry expressed unwavering support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as to protect its vital interests. This support stems from deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties, a shared destiny, and the Gulf Cooperation Council’s mutual defense agreement. The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Bahrain’s security and that of all GCC states.

Appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s Diplomatic Efforts

The Bahraini government also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic, developmental, and humanitarian efforts through its leadership of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen. These efforts aim to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable political solution based on the Gulf Initiative, its executive mechanism, national dialogue outcomes, and Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216. This approach seeks to preserve Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and independence.

Furthermore, Bahrain praised Saudi Arabia’s vital role in establishing a multinational maritime defense coalition. This coalition aims to enhance maritime security, protect freedom of navigation, and ensure the safety of international trade and global energy supplies.
