The Bahraini Ministry of Interior has announced the discovery of an organization connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, reportedly engaged in espionage activities in collaboration with foreign entities. In an official statement released on Saturday, the ministry confirmed that security forces have arrested 41 individuals associated with this group.
This security development coincides with a significant political move by the Bahraini Parliament, which voted to revoke the membership of three lawmakers who opposed a royal decree aimed at stripping the nationality of individuals accused of “glorifying Iranian attacks.” The parliamentary statement indicated that the vote was unanimous in favor of dismissing the following members:
The decision to dismiss these parliamentarians was made at the request of 37 of their colleagues.
In light of these developments, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his disappointment regarding what he characterized as the “alignment of some legislators with traitors.” He called for these individuals to either issue a “clear apology to the people of Bahrain or join those they have chosen to align with.”
The parliamentary vote on the nationality revocation decree took place just one day after Bahrain announced that the nationality of 69 individuals of non-Bahraini origin had been revoked. The Ministry of Interior noted that these individuals had either demonstrated sympathy for Iranian attacks or engaged in espionage with foreign entities. This decision is seen as part of Bahrain’s response to ongoing Iranian escalations against targets within the nation, particularly in reaction to American-Israeli strikes against Iranian activities in the region.
