Preparations Underway for Arab Traffic Week in Marib and Shabwa

The Traffic Police Department in Marib is actively preparing for the Arab Traffic Week, which will occur from May 4 to May 10. This week-long initiative aligns with similar events across various Arab nations. Concurrently, the Traffic Police in Shabwa have announced that they have successfully completed all preparations for the upcoming activities aimed at enhancing road safety.

Objectives of Arab Traffic Week

Colonel Ghanem Marah, the Director of Traffic Police in Marib, shared insights during an interview with the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) about the primary objectives of Arab Traffic Week. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to promote a culture of traffic safety and to educate the public on traffic regulations. The overarching aim is to reduce accidents and lessen both human and material losses. Colonel Marah assured that all preparatory work has been meticulously completed, leveraging the department’s accumulated experience and partnerships with various official and unofficial entities.

Awareness Activities in Marib

The program in Marib will encompass a diverse array of awareness activities designed to engage the community effectively. These initiatives include:

  • Increased visibility of traffic police on main and secondary roads.
  • Distribution of over 60,000 awareness posters, brochures, and leaflets.
  • Informative broadcasts through loudspeakers and local radio stations.
  • Media campaigns and lectures at universities, institutes, and schools.
  • Awareness initiatives conducted in mosques, especially during Friday sermons.

Moreover, a photographic exhibition will be held to showcase the achievements of the Traffic Police, alongside statistics on accidents, their causes, and associated losses. The exhibition will feature informative boards and awareness images to further educate the public.

Shabwa’s Efforts in Event Preparation

In Shabwa, Colonel Hussein Shniter, the Director of the Traffic Police Department, highlighted the significance of their awareness programs, which will include guiding models, banners, brochures, and informative posters. These materials are set to be distributed throughout the capital and across all districts to maximize outreach among road users.

Colonel Shniter underscored the importance of collaboration between relevant authorities and the citizenry to ensure the success of Arab Traffic Week. This cooperative effort aims to safeguard lives and property while enhancing overall traffic awareness in the region.
