The Arab Traffic Week, conducted from May 4 to May 10 under the slogan “Slow Down… We Are Waiting for You,” culminated today in various liberated provinces. The week-long initiative featured a series of speeches, artistic performances, and award ceremonies aimed at raising traffic awareness throughout the community.
During the closing ceremony in the temporary capital of Aden, Major General Mohammed Musaad Al-Amir, Deputy Minister of Interior, highlighted the importance of these annual events in enhancing traffic awareness, reducing accidents, and safeguarding lives and property. He commended the dedication of traffic police officers and their ongoing efforts to maintain safety and regulate traffic flow. Al-Amir called for a collective intensification of efforts to foster a sense of national responsibility, emphasizing the need for education on traffic safety measures to restore respect for law and order.
In a related statement, Major General Muthar Al-Shaibi, Director of Aden Security, stressed the necessity for stricter regulatory measures concerning vehicle exhibitions and unregistered vehicles. He cautioned that leniency in these areas could potentially lead to an increase in traffic accidents. Similarly, in Lahij province, Governor Murad Al-Halimi echoed this sentiment during his speech at the closing ceremony, underscoring the importance of community engagement in addressing traffic issues and the collective responsibility required to mitigate accidents that pose significant risks to public safety.
Major General Omar Bamshmos, Director General of Traffic Police, reviewed the various awareness activities that took place throughout the week, which included field visits, lectures, the distribution of educational materials, and photo exhibitions. He underscored the community’s vital role in supporting traffic police efforts, which can significantly reduce accidents and minimize human and material losses.
Moreover, Ali Al-Awd, Secretary-General of the Local Council in Al-Dhale, praised the traffic police for their successful execution of the week’s events. He reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to supporting traffic police in enhancing road safety. In Taiz province, Deputy Governor Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Makhlafi acknowledged the traffic police for their effective organization of traffic and enforcement of regulations. Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Daghari from Shabwa also celebrated the success of the traffic week, noting its profound message regarding the importance of preserving life and assuring local authority support for traffic police initiatives aimed at improving road safety.
The Arab Traffic Week concluded in Hadramout with a speech and artistic event attended by Deputy Governor Hassan Al-Jilani.
