Security Forces in Al-Mahra Capture Two Smugglers from Iran

Security forces in Al-Mahra province successfully apprehended two individuals attempting to infiltrate Yemen from Iran. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and maintain regional stability.

Investigation Reveals Links to Houthi Militias

According to the Ministry of Interior’s official website, initial investigations revealed that the suspects work for Houthi militias. They admitted to transporting prohibited materials from Djibouti to the port of Al-Mokha. This activity forms part of a broader smuggling network supported and financed by Iranian entities.

Minister of Interior Commends Security Readiness

During a phone call with Al-Mahra Police Chief Brigadier General Mufti Suhail Samoudah, Minister of Interior Major General Ibrahim Ali Haidan praised the readiness of security forces in the province. He emphasized the importance of enhancing security efforts to ensure the stability of Al-Mahra.

Call for Increased Vigilance at Maritime Borders

Minister Haidan acknowledged the significant work of security personnel in capturing the two smugglers. He stressed the need for heightened surveillance at maritime entry points and reinforced inspection operations. This proactive approach aims to thwart any attempts to undermine security and stability in the region.

Ongoing Commitment to Combat Smuggling

Brigadier General Mufti Suhail Samoudah confirmed that Al-Mahra Police are committed to enhancing security readiness. They are implementing all necessary measures to prevent any actions that could threaten the province’s safety. The apprehended individuals currently face legal proceedings before being referred to the appropriate authorities.

The successful capture of these smugglers underscores the ongoing challenges posed by smuggling operations linked to Houthi militias. The Al-Mahra security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to protect the province and uphold stability in Yemen.
