Today, Salim Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, met with Faiza Bahamdeen, the head of the Primary Juvenile Court, in Mukalla. They discussed a proposed awareness campaign focused on juvenile issues and the suggestion to establish a specialized juvenile police force in Hadhramaut. This initiative aims to strengthen the protection system for juveniles and ensure their treatment aligns with legal and humanitarian frameworks.
Al-Khanbashi reviewed the efforts of the Coordinating Committee for Juvenile Justice in Hadhramaut. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among judicial, security, social entities, and civil society organizations in juvenile matters. This collaboration will help enforce relevant laws and enhance preventive and rehabilitative measures.
He directed the relevant authorities in the province to study the proposed initiatives and complete the necessary procedures for implementing the awareness campaign. Additionally, he urged them to follow up on the proposal to create a specialized juvenile police force, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and available resources. Strengthening joint coordination is essential for the success of the Juvenile Justice Project in Hadhramaut.
In another development, Al-Khanbashi oversaw the signing of a cooperation agreement to establish a water desalination station for the dialysis center in Mukalla. This project receives funding from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and will be executed by the Nahd Development Foundation.
Al-Khanbashi praised the project, highlighting its significance in improving the quality of dialysis services. The initiative will provide a sustainable and safe source of purified and treated water, alleviating the suffering of kidney failure patients. The modern desalination station will meet global standards, ensuring the provision of high-quality treated water suitable for dialysis procedures.
The agreement includes the supply, installation, and operation of a modern and integrated water treatment station capable of servicing at least 30 dialysis machines. It will produce water that meets approved medical standards. Approximately 220 patients will directly benefit from the project, along with their families and medical staff indirectly.
The agreement was signed by Zahir bin Khawar Al-Kathiri, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut for Technical Affairs, on behalf of the local authority, and Ibrahim bin Thabit, the General Director of the Nahd Development Foundation, on behalf of the executing entity.
