Gulf Cooperation Council Commits to Dialogue and Diplomacy

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, reaffirmed the commitment of GCC member states to enhance dialogue and diplomacy. This initiative aims to ensure that the Gulf region remains a bridge for peace and cooperation amid rising global competition.

Participation in Doha Forum

Al-Budaiwi made these remarks during a panel discussion on the dynamics between the United States and China, focusing on the future of cooperative security and regional stability. This event took place at the 22nd Doha Forum, which carries the theme “The Necessity of Innovation.”

Emphasizing Multilateralism

The Secretary-General emphasized that the GCC believes in multilateralism and balanced partnerships with the United States, China, and other global powers. These efforts aim to secure a prosperous and stable future for the Gulf region and beyond.

Strengthening Economic Ties

Al-Budaiwi discussed the relationships and partnerships between GCC countries, the United States, and China. He highlighted the collaborative efforts across various sectors, including the free trade agreement with China. He also presented economic statistics that reflect the depth of these relationships.

Vision for Regional Security

The GCC Secretary-General outlined the Council’s vision for regional security, positioning it as a key stabilizing force in the area. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with both the United States and China. Furthermore, he called for strengthening multilateral frameworks to address pressing issues, such as climate change, technological advancement, and economic diversification.

This commitment to dialogue and collaboration underscores the GCC’s dedication to maintaining stability and fostering cooperation in an increasingly complex global landscape.
